Phoenix is a mythical fire bird creature that is immortal, if a Phoenix is about to pass of old age
then it will burst in flames, explode and be resurrected as a newborn Phoenix. Therefor a Phoenix can live on indefinitely.
Phoenix sounds cool
Fire birds are cool
Phoenix's way of immortality is a good analogy to what we're trying to accomplish,
resurrecting the "dieing" PowerPC architecture with the open laptop. PowerPC/Power ISA will never die.
A Phoenix could make for a fun mascot for Power Progress Community hardware projects, like Tux is for Linux.
Phoenix name can also be expanded with model numbers and suffixes,
For example; PowerProgressCommunity Phoenix 2080L, 2080 being the NPX cpu and L standing for Laptop.
incase that there'll other versions of the Phoenix board, e.g. Phoenix 2080ATX for ATX desktop version, Phoenix 2080T for Tablet version.
Some my jokester friends also suggested "The Mystery Machine" from Scooby Doo and "GoatMaster 2000".
